Understanding Room Integrity Testing: Why It Matters
For gaseous fire suppression systems to work effectively, the protected room must be able to retain the extinguishing agent long enough to suppress the fire. This is where Room Integrity Testing (RIT), also known as a Door Fan Test, becomes essential.
Room Integrity Testing is commonly used in environments protected by systems such as FM-200, Novec 1230, Inergen and CO₂ systems, including:

- Archive storage areas
The test measures how well an enclosure can contain the fire suppression agent after discharge. If there are leaks through doors, ceilings, cable penetrations or HVAC systems, the agent concentration may drop too quickly, reducing the system’s effectiveness.
