Overview
A Schrader valve pressure switch is an electrical control device designed to connect directly to a standard Schrader (tire-style) valve port. It is used to monitor system pressure and activate or deactivate electrical circuits when preset pressure thresholds are reached, without releasing system fluid or gas during installation or removal.
This makes it a reliable solution for pressure monitoring in automotive, pneumatic, and industrial systems where safe, repeatable switching is required.
How It Works
The switch threads directly onto a Schrader valve and typically includes an internal brass depressor pin. This pin presses the valve core, allowing the switch to read real-time system pressure while maintaining a sealed connection.
When system pressure reaches a predefined set point, the internal electrical contacts open or close, triggering connected equipment such as pumps, compressors, or safety shutdown systems.
No-Loss Maintenance Design
One of the key advantages of this design is no-loss maintenance capability. The switch can be removed or replaced without venting or draining the system, as the Schrader valve retains internal pressure when the switch is detached.
However, the valve core itself can become a potential leak point. If pressure loss or a slight hissing sound is detected, the valve core may require tightening or replacement.
